Red Maca – The Best of the Best, Plus A Red Maca Smoothie Recipe

The word superfoods gets used quite liberally these days. There seems to be a literally unending new supply of them. But what is a superfood, really?

Well there’s a couple nutritional indexes out there that measure the value of foods. One is the ANDI, or Aggregate Nutrient Density Index. Another, the ORAC, or Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity. You may be surprised to see some of the foods atop these list, and some that aren’t as high as one might expect.

These are no doubt useful measures of the superpowers of food, but to me, the foods that truly are super, are the ones that can be felt instantly. I was chatting with a friend about this a little while back, and one food that we both agreed could be felt, and quite quickly, was Maca powder. Especially when it’s good. For most people, Maca powder is a singular thing. However, that is not the case. The Fiery Red Maca Smoothie

The Fiery Red Maca Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup Chopped Dragon Fruit
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Beet
  • ¾ of a medium Tomato
  • 1 large Carrot
  • 3 tbsp Goji Berry soaking water (can replace with regular water if don't have)
  • 2 tsp Chia Seeds soaked in ¾ cup Coconut Water
  • 2 tsp Lecithin
  • 4 tsp Red Maca Powder
  • 6 tbsp Orange Juice
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • ½ cup Coconut Water
  • 2 Vanilla Beans
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp Liquid Sweetener of Choice

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients until Smooth and Creamy
